Innovative biodiversity monitoring, combining advanced data collection, improves conservation. A partnership with Map of Life Solutions generates high-resolution insights for smarter environmental policies and sustainable resource management.

In Guyana, this approach identified 741 species using camera traps, soundscapes, and eDNA, protecting rich ecosystems. The Sustainable Wildlife Management (SWM) Programme leads this, also supporting Amerindian villages in developing Free, Prior and Informed Consent (FPIC) guidelines.

Co-funded by the European Union and French agencies, the SWM Programme is implemented by FAO, CIRAD, CIFOR-ICRAF, and WCS. Learn more: https://www.fao.org/in-action/swm-programme
