Healthy and local is the focus of this special collection around the people who grow and bring organic food to local markets and the people who shop at these markets. Topics also include how farmers grow organic food and the quality of our food supply around issues to include local economy, seeding, use of pestisides and fertilisers, water, food security, availability and pricing.

This initiative aims to gather perspectives and recommendations from diverse representative organizations, including family farmers, indigenous peoples, peasant communities, fishers, pastoralists, and consumers. These contributions will inform specific debates at the 39th Regional Conference, drawing from official preparatory documents.

Key objectives include evaluating progress on Regional Initiatives from the 38th FAO Conference and formulating recommendations for the 39th Conference. These recommendations will be integrated into FAO's regional strategy.
