Resource Mobilization for National Coordinators
January 21, 2026
https://www.fao.org/animal-genetics/events/intergovernmental-technical-working-group-on-angr/webinars/en/ The 2024 Synthesis Progress Report on the Implementation of the GPA-AnGR highlighted increasing difficulties in mobilizing adequate funding for activities related to Animal Genetic Resources (AnGR). To deepen this understanding, FAO launched a survey in November 2025 targeting National Focal Points and National Coordinators for AnGR. The findings confirmed that access to external funding remains a constraint, citing obstacles such as limited institutional funding, insufficient technical capacity for proposal development, lack of information on donor opportunities, and increasingly stringent donor requirements. These results form an important evidence base for the new Guidelines on Resource Mobilization (RM) for National Coordinators, ensuring that recommendations reflect the real-world conditions faced by countries managing livestock and AnGR programmes. This webinar presents the key elements of the new Guidelines and create space for cross-regional exchange on challenges, lessons learned, and opportunities.
