February 06, 2026

FISH4ACP, an initiative of the Organisation of African, Caribbean and Pacific States (OACPS), aims to make fisheries and aquaculture value chains in Africa, the Caribbean, and the Pacific more sustainable. Implemented by the FAO and partners, with funding from the European Union (EU) and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), it focuses on improving food security and incomes. More information can be found at FISH4ACP.

In The Gambia, FISH4ACP enhances the mangrove oyster value chain, linking economic growth with environmental sustainability and social inclusion. A key project, led by the Gambian Navy, teaches women oyster harvesters to swim, overcoming fears and making the sector more appealing.
